ion8 Leak-proof Sports Water Bottle

Hello forkers! Today I have a review of a non edible item for you. A water bottle! Hooray! “But Stef, what type of water bottle are you going to tell me about?” I hear you think… well.. this one is the ion8 leak-proof sports water bottle…. I know, right?!

I am awful at getting enough water into my body. Even now, I’m sitting here thinking I should get up for a cup of water but my sheer laziness tells me not to. You see, today I have forgotten my ion8 bottle. A tragedy. Since owning one of these bottles I have to say I’ve drunk far more than I would have without it. To be completely honest with you, I do add squash to make the water more interesting but it’s still better than nothing.

This bottle has a number of design features which I’ll provide details on, but my favourite is the lid. On the front there’s a little button which, once pressed, flips the lid open for you so you can open the bottle one handed and with great ease. In case you’re worried about pressing this in your bag by accident, there’s a little clip which locks the lid down for such occasions and to make sure your belongings/bag/car/clothes/etc aren’t accidentally hydrated. To also prevent this sort of situation, this bottle is also ‘100% Leak proof’ which I have found to be true so far. As long as you screw the lid on correctly – but ion8 can’t be responsible for general customer buffoonery now, can they?

With a lot of water bottles I find that when I drink, the bottle either squeezes up or bubbles in between each glug. However, this bottle has a little air hole in the lid meaning that you can effectively drink the whole bottle and not need to remove your mouth from the …er… nozzle once. What a smoooooooth flow of water. Swoon.

Materials-wise, this range is BPA (bisphenol A) free, phthalate free and non-toxic It’s also dishwasher safe and suitable for hot or cold drinks from -10°C to 96°C… however if you do have a drink that’s 96°C then you must be NUTS. The capacity we’re looking at here is 550ml which is fine for me and is a good size to fit in my bag with no hassle. It’s also pretty nice when it comes to design and it has won awards for just that if you needed more evidence, just check out their website.

The only thing that’s a negative here, which is something I get with every flask I have, is that washing it up is a pain (I don’t have a dishwasher) because I cant get my hand in to give it a good scrub, although that’s probably more my bad for not having the right sink-based equipment to handle the situation properly. But that’s literally all I can think of!

If you like the look of this, the RRP is £14.99 but look out for bargains. Amazon has this bottle available in a whole array of colours (14 so far), so take a look see!
