Happy Summer 2019 to you all! Need some drink tips? I thought so! Here’s one for you to try; today I’m here to tell you about the new Honey & Rum…er….rum, by Burning Barn Rum. I like honey and I like rum so this surely has to be a winner, it’s self described as ‘liquid gold in a bottle’ so my job is to see if this is true or false.
HELLOOOO UKRAINE! Where am I? LVIV! Why? Because! Me and two of my beautiful buds Lianne and Laura love to have a weekend together each year anywhere within a few hours flight from London.. this year it was Lviv!
We hadn’t heard of this city before but thought why not, hey? Upon digging into researching this blank slate of a city, we found that Lviv has a good few novelty venues (most of which are coffee or chocolate based) and this is one of them. I’ve accidentally become quite a big coffee fan and this seemed to be the place to go for good coffee and a bit of an experience in Lviv, so off we went.

With a slogan of “Make Coffee, Not Excuses” I thought hey, why not? Now I’m not saying I am overweight so please no hate there, it’s just over the last 6 months my clothes seem to be smaller – very selfish of them…. so I thought if I can start wearing them comfortably again then that would be a great feeling for me. Praise be, mother Mary, Joseph and the orphans! Bleecker Burger, our beloved and much raved about burger joint, has opened a new location in the City TODAY! Bloomberg Arcade has recently blossomed from a building site into a new delicious heaven and Bleecker are the peak of the scrumptiousness.
I’m quite keen on rockabilly/vintage events, which you may have picked up from some of the style and events posts so far under the Fork My Life section of this site, so I was excited to see a new monthly event pop onto the scene in the form of The 2 Rs thanks to the Freddies of Pinewood team.
The oh so East London drinking and dining den Magic Roundabout, which resides in the middle of Old Street roundabout is coming back for Winter!
They’ve tented it, heated it, and revamped it with a new old school theme. The new venue will take you back through the decades, with areas decked out in homage to the 60s, 70s, 80s and (our personal favourite) the 90s. The new themed areas include a Woodstock with some serious flower power and tribute to the late, great (in some opinions) Hugh Heffner with a super sexy 1970s Playboy lounge, complete with sheepskins and log fire. The Main Bar will be an all out 80s disco with futuristic art and palm trees and finally, the VIP Area will take you right back to the early 90s; oh the patterns, oh the Fresh Prince colours! Hopefully Big Willy himself will make an appearance… (ok, maybe not but let a girl dream!)
Last Winter, Fork My Piehole took a trip to the concrete jungle that is New York City. We’ve both been to NYC before but, as we’d already done most of the touristy bits, this time we had the pure aim of consuming as many goodies as we possibly could. We’d heard of Please Don’t Tell from friends and online and it was a definite ‘need to visit’ on our list.
This is a non-reservation bar and quite exclusive; we had to call for a table non-stop for a good ten minutes to get through the phone lines. We’d tried the previous day with no joy – we did call a bit later (you have to call when they open at 3pm), so learned our lesson and set an alarm to remind us to book – and having limited time in NYC this was our last chance! Luckily we got through and booked a table. So, as it would make sense, we made our way to the East Village for our slot at 9pm.
