Pret A Manger – Chicken Protein Box

Hello! Today I want to tell you about a lunch I’ve become rather fond of which takes the form of a Protein Box from Pret. This isn’t sponsored and hasn’t been requested by a PR company, it’s just me sharing the love for something I quite like.

I eat a lot, and a lot of that is food which (combined with no exercise) means my clothes are slowly feeling tighter… my poor self control means I can’t cut delicious food out totally but I am trying to reduce my carb intake for lunches.  So here we are with this box which seemed like a good option to me and, as a classic millennial, I’m a right sucker for an avo.  However despite these lures I am also a bit of a stinge, so was initially put off by the £4.99 price tag.

Gino Sorbillo – Naples, Italy

Gino Sorbillo is a famous pizzeria in the historic centre of Naples and as I usually plan my holidays around food I naturally had to go. When I dropped the name into Google Maps a ton of results were brought up…turns out that just to a make it nice and confusing there are quite a few Sorbillo named fooderies on the same road… yaaaay! However, don’t be fooled and make sure you head to the right one!

I did some digging and managed to find the much loved Sorbillo online, only to find out that (probably unsurprisingly) there’s usually a wait to get a seat. As seems to be the theme for my European breaks in 2017, it was raining. The one week in Naples a year when it rains, and naturally that would coincide with my visit. This plus a wait didn’t sound too joyous but I wanted a good pizza so set off with brolly in hand to get me just that.

Stacja Pasibus – Wroclaw, Poland

I’m finishing off 2017 and welcoming you to our first post for Poland! I swept in here for a little pre-Christmas break to see what was what and basically eat my way through a few Winterry days. This is when I found Stacja Pasibus and I’m ruddy glad I did. In front of the entrance to one of the Christmas markets, this place was a frookin’ gem to walk into.  I did have a little fear of “WHAT IF THEY HAVE NO SEATS?!” but our accidental timing was fortunate, so we grabbed a table straight away.

Chicken Bar – Port Olimpic, Barcelona

A very good afternoon to you all! I’ve just got back from a weekend away in Barcelona with a fabulous group of women and thought I would write a post about one of the places we ate while we were there.

We’d just finished a really relaxing cruise on a BBQ catamaran and needed some nibbles and cocktails before we headed back to our apartment. Conveniently placed at the end of the pier was Chicken Bar.  We’d seen the menu online and were lured in by the cheap cocktails and the menu looked pretty safe.

Schwartz’s Deli – Trocadero, Paris

We were loitering around the Trocadero Gardens having a little look at the Eiffel Tower and watching some skateboarders do their thing and at some point hunger approached us. I had a quick google and Schwartz’s Deli popped up….checked out the website and the menu looked pretty HAWT so knew we had to go.

A lot of restaurants in Paris work in an ‘open for lunch, have a break then open for dinner later on’ kind of way and this one was no exception so we had to wait a dreaded half hour until the place opened at seven.  We’d had a look through the window though and the interior was pretty pleasing – done up in an American New York diner style without being too tacky and over the top.   There were lots of pin up girls on the walls – which I approve of – celebrity mug shots, old magazine covers and some Elvis thrown in. Bingo bango.

Burgermeister, das Berliner Burger – Berlin, Germany

Apparently it is widely believed that the Hamburger originated in Hamburg (hence the name), the invention of Otto Kuase who used to serve butter fried patties topped with a fried egg to sailors. There are plenty of other claims to the first Hamburger, but we like this one, and so we thought we’d take a break from the wurst and give a burger a go in the country where it was (allegedly) invented. So where better when in Berlin than Burgermeister, the go-to place in Berlin for burgers, which frequently features on best eats lists for the city. When I arrived I was amused to see the innately hip Berlin has not missed out on the trend of turning public loos into eating establishments. (Maybe it even started here? Who knows!) Het Karbeel (Cheese) + Omel-Egg (Brunch) – Amsterdam

Amsterdam! What a fine city it is. Although it’s renowned for the sexy and substance side of things, the sexiest thing I found (sorry, working girls and guys) was the grub.

We consumed some great food during our long weekend visit and hopefully this blog will help with some recommendations if you choose to go too!

This post covers Het Karbeel for some gosh darned fine fondue and Omel-Egg which will cover all your breakfast needs in a very individual way!
