Holla! Today I had the pleasure of eating at Roadkill, a stall in Camden’s Stable Market which only opened two weeks ago. This is one for the more meaty of the foodies amongst us – I don’t think there is one vegetarian thing on the menu… ok maybe the slaw is, but that’s probably about it.
I’m finishing off 2017 and welcoming you to our first post for Poland! I swept in here for a little pre-Christmas break to see what was what and basically eat my way through a few Winterry days. This is when I found Stacja Pasibus and I’m ruddy glad I did. In front of the entrance to one of the Christmas markets, this place was a frookin’ gem to walk into. I did have a little fear of “WHAT IF THEY HAVE NO SEATS?!” but our accidental timing was fortunate, so we grabbed a table straight away.
Praise be, mother Mary, Joseph and the orphans! Bleecker Burger, our beloved and much raved about burger joint, has opened a new location in the City TODAY! Bloomberg Arcade has recently blossomed from a building site into a new delicious heaven and Bleecker are the peak of the scrumptiousness.
The oh so East London drinking and dining den Magic Roundabout, which resides in the middle of Old Street roundabout is coming back for Winter!
They’ve tented it, heated it, and revamped it with a new old school theme. The new venue will take you back through the decades, with areas decked out in homage to the 60s, 70s, 80s and (our personal favourite) the 90s. The new themed areas include a Woodstock with some serious flower power and tribute to the late, great (in some opinions) Hugh Heffner with a super sexy 1970s Playboy lounge, complete with sheepskins and log fire. The Main Bar will be an all out 80s disco with futuristic art and palm trees and finally, the VIP Area will take you right back to the early 90s; oh the patterns, oh the Fresh Prince colours! Hopefully Big Willy himself will make an appearance… (ok, maybe not but let a girl dream!)
Today we ventured to the new Bloomberg Arcade, which will soon be home to a new Bleecker Burger (the most glorious of all London Burgers). Sadly it isn’t open yet (but will be on the 18th October people!) so we wandered around in search of a quick and hearty lunch. We stumbled upon Pull’d, which looked like a good option – I mean who doesn’t like pulled meats.
Glory praise, be! A ‘farmers market’ has landed in Victoria Park!
Being a local to the area, I thought this was great – bop along every Sunday and pick up some produce but my, my I was so surprised when I visited! There is SO much more than just produce on offer. There was a band, tons of street food stands to grab lunch or brekkie while you’re there…donuts, cookies, cured meats… this market literally has it all if you’re after something edible.
Although I have experienced Wrap It Up before, this was our first time to the Aldermanbury location and we had a specific mission: try the new American Smokey wrap. Fortunately, myself and Toli are fans and friends of beef brisket, the main component of this new wrap so we were both looking forward to this and also slightly fearful of the brisket quality.
But let’s start from the very beginning, shall we? I’ve heard it’s a very good place to start – thank you Julie Andrews.
Following our preview post last month, here we have it, the return of the East London tropical beach pop up…the Last Days of Shoreditch. I’m unsure where the name came from exactly but positioned on the crevis of Great Eastern Street and Old Street, you’ll find a beach hideaway nestled and ready for you to pull up a deckchair.
We were lucky enough to go to the launch of FDoS and although there was a little delay on allowing entry we were glad to get to the bar and have a drink as the sun was shining and we were all excited to see what was available this season.
Prawnography – ooooo matron! Who are these punny fish fans? Well I discovered them as one of this year’s *new* traders at Dinerama is Prawnography and you can find them on the right hand side as you come in, with their little fisherman style hut, decked out to very much suit the cuisine.
Your captain is Jim Thomlinson, a Michelin Star chef who wanted to try his hand at fancy street food. Now although Prawnography are relatively new – I say this as they’ve been at Dinerama for a good six months now at least – they’ve been at Hawker House for two years but are fully embracing their new home in East London. Personally I am yet to visit Hawker House, but East London has a very foodie crowd which allows Jim to ‘fancy up’ his dishes and play around with his obvious Michelin quality presentation.
