Pret A Manger – Chicken Protein Box

Hello! Today I want to tell you about a lunch I’ve become rather fond of which takes the form of a Protein Box from Pret. This isn’t sponsored and hasn’t been requested by a PR company, it’s just me sharing the love for something I quite like.

I eat a lot, and a lot of that is food which (combined with no exercise) means my clothes are slowly feeling tighter… my poor self control means I can’t cut delicious food out totally but I am trying to reduce my carb intake for lunches.  So here we are with this box which seemed like a good option to me and, as a classic millennial, I’m a right sucker for an avo.  However despite these lures I am also a bit of a stinge, so was initially put off by the £4.99 price tag.

Upcoming: Magic Roundabout Winter Launch

The oh so East London drinking and dining den Magic Roundabout, which resides in the middle of Old Street roundabout is coming back for Winter!

They’ve tented it, heated it, and revamped it with a new old school theme. The new venue will take you back through the decades, with areas decked out in homage to the 60s, 70s, 80s and (our personal favourite) the 90s.  The new themed areas include a Woodstock with some serious flower power and tribute to the late, great (in some opinions) Hugh Heffner with a super sexy 1970s Playboy lounge, complete with sheepskins and log fire. The Main Bar will be an all out 80s disco with futuristic art and palm trees and finally, the VIP Area will take you right back to the early 90s; oh the patterns, oh the Fresh Prince colours! Hopefully Big Willy himself will make an appearance… (ok, maybe not but let a girl dream!)

Victoria Park Market – East London

Glory praise, be! A ‘farmers market’ has landed in Victoria Park!

Being a local to the area, I thought this was great – bop along every Sunday and pick up some produce but my, my I was so surprised when I visited! There is SO much more than just produce on offer. There was a band, tons of street food stands to grab lunch or brekkie while you’re there…donuts, cookies, cured meats… this market literally has it all if you’re after something edible.

Bukowski Grill at Boxpark – Shoreditch, London

Next to Shoreditch High Street Overground station in Boxpark you’ll find many a shop, boutique, nail bar and foodery.  One of these fooderies is the Shoreditch location of Bukowski Grill. Personally I love Boxpark and the interesting array of golden shop nuggets it brings us over such a small piece of ground. However just a note to those of you expecting a full restaurant – this is the size of a shipping container.

Within this shipping container I’d say you could seat 12 people max on Bukowski’s wooden bench booths. As Boxpark has a kind of sharing is caring feel to it, there’s also shared bench style seating outside but as it’s February it was too chilly for us so we opted for an inside seat.  It was a fairly quiet day and we were shown to our booth quickly then served straight away.

Miss P’s Barbecue – Cajun Catfish

Cajun Catfish burger/ sandwich – £6

I was going to have boring lunch today. Something standard. But then I realised it was a Thursday. Kerb is at the Gherkin on a Thursday. I did a little food #tbt, looking back on my photos from Kerb at the Gherkin a few weeks ago…and that was it. My boring plan was ruined. I knew I had to go again at lunch and from browsing the vendors available (the line up changes every week) I knew who I’d be heading to. But I didn’t expect to pick the dish I picked…

Bleecker Street – Spitalfields, London – London’s Best Burger!

Bleecker Van Love <3

Bleecker Van Love ❤

Yesterday we had the absolute joy of meeting Zan Kaufman the owner and creator of Bleecker Burger, one of our hands down favourite places to eat in London. Not only was she nice enough to pose for a picture with us she also invited us into the Bleecker Bus – the dream! After the treat of getting up close and personal with the lady behind the Bleecker we realised what a travesty it was that we have never actually written about our favourite burger!

Patty and Bun – Goodge St, London

Woohoo! A new Patty and Bun opening! Everyone rejoiced!

I had tried Patty and Bun a couple of years back (by Liverpool Street) so took this opportunity to give it another taste and report back to y’all.  I know, the things I do for you hey!

I can’t tell you much about the history of Patty & Bun apart from they started as a pop up but, as Goodge St is their 6th location, P&B are clearly doing something The People like.

Getting Dirty at *NEW* Dirty Bones, Shoreditch

Dirty Bones. You have been on my radar for a while but always seem to have wait lists or are booked up when I try and step through your door. I guess this is the price I pay when I try to pop in to popular places! I saw your Shoreditch opening and jumped at the chance to go!

I tried to book the first week of their soft opening just after it was announced (I needed to get there, STAT) but it was already jammed! So I settled for the second week and I was really not disappointed.
