The Babka Boys – Chocco Babka

Oh my sweet lord… You need to check out these lads. I was first drawn to them because of the frookin delish pics of their babka all over social media… My eye stomach couldn’t get enough and the climax of me ordering finally arrived.

Luckily for me there was a slot for delivery in my area the very next day so I popped my order through and sat by the door in excitement… The next day (just imagine I’d sat there for the whole time) my babka was hand delivered to me by a lovely cyclist – yay to environmentally friendly local delivery!

Second Shot coffee – Bethnal Green, London

Hello there, I wanted to share a recent discovery with you… I was off to get my nails done at my usual place (Hollywood Star Nails in Bethnal Green) but today I didn’t book so had to wait for someone to be free to fix my hands up real nice. I took the opportunity to pop by to Second Shot to bide my time. I’ve bought a take out coffee from Second Shot a few times before now but hadn’t ever sat in, and I’m glad I did this time.

Coffee Manufacture – Lviv, Ukraine

HELLOOOO UKRAINE! Where am I? LVIV! Why? Because! Me and two of my beautiful buds Lianne and Laura love to have a weekend together each year anywhere within a few hours flight from London.. this year it was Lviv!

We hadn’t heard of this city before but thought why not, hey? Upon digging into researching this blank slate of a city, we found that Lviv has a good few novelty venues (most of which are coffee or chocolate based) and this is one of them. I’ve accidentally become quite a big coffee fan and this seemed to be the place to go for good coffee and a bit of an experience in Lviv, so off we went.

Skinny Coffee by The Skinny Caffe

Skinny Coffee is a 30 Day Program to help weight loss with only one cup of this coffee a day, drunk 15 minutes before you have your breakfast. With a slogan of “Make Coffee, Not Excuses” I thought hey, why not? Now I’m not saying I am overweight so please no hate there, it’s just over the last 6 months my clothes seem to be smaller – very selfish of them…. so I thought if I can start wearing them comfortably again then that would be a great feeling for me. No excuses!

Cafe East – Roman Road, Bow

Sunday morning…well, afternoon…I like a lie in, don’t judge me! Not wanting to wander too far from home, I thought it was about time that I explored some local options.  In the last few months, Roman Road in Mile End/Bow has seen some great new additions – one of those is Cafe East. I’ve walked past a few times and today was the day I was to go in, after seeing some of their photos on Instagram.

Starbucks – Unicorn Frappuccino

So if you’re part of the internet I can guarantee you’ve seen the Unicorn Frappuccino, a limited edition drink handed to us by Starbucks. It’s only available in America and it’s just fortunate basic bitch timing for me that, as a Londoner, I’m in San Francisco for the 4 days it’s available.

Apart from being perfect Instagram fodder, what is this drink? We’ve seen articles about how much the baristas hate it, how it tastes awful and how your teeth will fall out as soon as they come within a meter of this sparkly beverage. So I had to get one!

Spicer + Cole – Queen Square, Bristol

Ooo arr! We’re in the West Country, Bristol to be specific, and it’s BRUNCHTIME following a 30th birthday party. A little dozy and worse for wear, we are wandering Bristol without aim….luckily, we’ve found a brunch spot not far away from the city centre and our hotel. Hooray! It looks safe and there are spare seats, so we step inside.

The menu looked pretty interesting, offering the standard kind of things you’d expect to see in a brunch spot, but my bruncheon of choice was the Harissa Bap. Specifically, the menu read “Bacon house harissa + aioli bap with a poached egg” – interesting. Bit different to my go-to of eggs benedict or something avocado-looking. Continue reading

Caravan – Kings Cross, London

It’s the weekend and it’s brunchtime.

I’ve tried to get into Caravan before but the first time round we didn’t want to wait 40 minutes for a table…however this time it was a 20 min wait and we were offered a seat at the coffee bar. We were given a numbered coffee bean (I think) bag and toddled off to sit at the bar and peruse the menu.

While we were waiting, I ordered a latte and it looked pretty (I’m a sucker for a nice looking latte in a glass). This place has an on-site coffee roastery and so I would expect this stuff to be pretty special. The atmosphere of the place was nice, not rushed around and just very chilled out and warehousey industrial sort of feel…you know, cagey walls and pipes out, lots of wooden stuff.. Is that shabby chic? Dunno but it’s good anyway. Pleases my eyes.  the clientele and staff looked pretty Hipster tastic  (they were very nice and enthusiastic)but I like a good hipster so I’m down with that, son.
