Steam at Home with Ping Pong – UK delivery

Since lockdown due to COVID-19 there has been a plethora of meal kits created by restaurants. Many have complicated instructions, short shelf life and large price tags that leave customers longing for restaurants to be back open again.

Ping Pong has set themselves apart from the majority by providing customers with handmade restaurant products at affordable prices, created by their chefs and ready to cook at home as soon as they arrive. Meaning customers can have their favourite Ping Pong dim sum in just over a minute if using a microwave or 5 if using a traditional steaming basket.

Crispin E1, Fallow Restaurant Team Residency (7 Jan-7 March 2020) – Spitalfields, London

Howdy partners! A quickish post from me today to recommend a place I went to this week called Crispin, which is currently having a delicious 2 month chef residency from Jack Croft & Will Murray of Fallow.  I was lured into booking a table here because both chefs previously worked together at the Heston Blumenthal restaurant Dinner…. I was treated to a birthday meal there once and it was pretty fookin’ delicious so I knew this residency would be a right treat and I wasn’t wrong.

Fish Market – Liverpool Street, London

Welcome to Wednesday, dear friends! Halfway through the week, we can make it! We’re also at the end of June and I can hear you wondering what I’ve done with my month so far..well.. a couple of weeks back I ate at Fish Market and had a catch up with one of my best friends Lianne. We love a bargain and so booked for the £16.50 set menu which covered 2 courses. We both wanted to eat relatively healthily and on a budget so this seemed ideal and the restaurant isn’t far from Liverpool Street – we both work pretty close by.

Prawnography: The Specials – Shoreditch, London

Prawnography – ooooo matron! Who are these punny fish fans?  Well I discovered them as one of this year’s *new* traders at Dinerama is Prawnography and you can find them on the right hand side as you come in, with their little fisherman style hut, decked out to very much suit the cuisine.

Your captain is Jim Thomlinson, a Michelin Star chef who wanted to try his hand at fancy street food.  Now although Prawnography are relatively new – I say this as they’ve been at Dinerama for a good six months now at least – they’ve been at Hawker House for two years but are fully embracing their new home in East London.  Personally I am yet to visit Hawker House, but East London has a very foodie crowd which allows Jim to ‘fancy up’ his dishes and play around with his obvious Michelin quality presentation.

Sushi Gourmet – Fancy Fish!

Are you allergic to fish? If so, probably don’t read this. Or do! Here we have Sushi Gourmet who, as you may be able to guess, are a sushi hub. They do also serve up non fishy treats (such as the chicken gyoza I’ve sampled or perhap teppanyaki) which is where the above “or do” applies. Anyhoo, Sushi Gourmet just opened their first UK sushi kiosk in the Sainsbury’s Nine Elms store! Yay!

The low-down on Sushi Gourmet is they are offering customers a brand new food buying experience, with sushi chefs hand making the products in front of their very eyes. SG only use ingredients from hand picked suppliers but with all this they’re also price concious to let you chow down on quality sushi without breaking the bank. J’adore.

Miss P’s Barbecue – Cajun Catfish

Cajun Catfish burger/ sandwich – £6

I was going to have boring lunch today. Something standard. But then I realised it was a Thursday. Kerb is at the Gherkin on a Thursday. I did a little food #tbt, looking back on my photos from Kerb at the Gherkin a few weeks ago…and that was it. My boring plan was ruined. I knew I had to go again at lunch and from browsing the vendors available (the line up changes every week) I knew who I’d be heading to. But I didn’t expect to pick the dish I picked…

SLIDER DECIDER – London’s Best Bun Fight 10/09/2016

Last Saturday (10 Sept ’16) we attended Slider Decider at Broadgate Circle, London, and cor we had an amazing day! Despite the rain, the 16 chefs in attendance cooked for the crowds, powered through and did a brilliant job.

We too put the ‘work’ in and sampled 14 out of the 16 sliders on offer. If you want to know what we thought, who the winners were, who we voted for and where you can see more of these chefs then keep on reading!
