KERB ‘The Favourites’ Part 1- Camden, London

KERB Camden – Street Food – £ varies – mostly under £10

Last week I was lucky enough to get invited to the preview night of the new KERB food market at Camden Lock by A Geordie Lost In London. This food market has been here for a while but it’s been taken over and re-vamped by the KERB guys who already run street food markets at Kings Cross, the Gherkin and Canary Wharf.

Camden is the new flagship of the KERB brand as the first market which will be open 7 days a week, and has a huge 35 traders as well as a bar which specialises in Negronis (turns out I don’t love Negronis but there are plenty of other options including craft beers). It’s a great site, the stalls surround an offshoot from the canal which houses a couple of sleepy canal boats, so you get a nice feeling of chilling out by the water while you chow down.

BBQ Lab/Thunderbird – The only wing you’ll ever need – London

BBQ Lab – Chipuffalo Wings – £ the more you order the less they cost so buy them all

I don’t think we could do this blog without writing about BBQ Lab. These guys have been a favourite of Stef and I for a while now and let me tell you for why…

Anyone who knows me knows that I like chicken. Scrap that I bloody LOVE chicken. One of my proudest moments as an Auntie so far is when I saw my baby niece using a chicken bone as a teething ring. My mother tells me I did the same thing as a baby. Must be genetic, what can I say?

Now since I have been chowing down on chicken since before I could walk, and since my favourite part of the chicken is the wing, I think I’m pretty well qualified to tell you about a good wing when I find one. Trust me, I have eaten a LOT of wings.

Smokestak at Dinerama – Shoreditch, London

Smokestak – Usda Brisket Bun – 8 Quid

This lunchtime I mosey-ed on down to Dinerama in Shoreditch and one of my chosen dishes was a USDA Brisket Bun from Smokestak.

This is a looovely juicy soft bit o’brisket served in a mystery bun – what is it, Smokestak? Brioche?! Anyway it’s a very light bun and sweet, toasted and all clammy. Clammy doesnt sound like it should be a good thing, but in this case it is – meat clamminess. No seeds. Thumbs up.

Bunnychow – Soho, London

Bunnychow – South African meals in a mini loaf – £5

Dear few readers. Or us. Or both. I began my relationship with Bunnychow last year and it was overwhelmingly fabulous. Their Thai Chicken bunny rocked my world and made it into my top 10 foods that I wanted to Get In My Face and I thought about the saucy soft bread most days. Sigh. Summer lovin’ did indeed happen so fast.

Orange Buffalo Chicken – Brick Lane, London

Oof! Now I’d been waiting white a while to go to Orange Buffalo and I’d heard very good things but I had often found myself in Brick Lane at a non foody time, or I’d just stuffed myself at the stalls down the Lane itself.

HOWEVER, this Sunday a group of buds and I were there. We sat on a bench in the communal eating piece and the time was now. My friend got a portion of the buffalo wings and they smelt super tasty and zingy, so how could I refuse the opportunity?
