Barone Cafe – Mile End / Bow, London

Barone Cafe is a quaint little capsule situated amongst the hubbub (haha, hubbub – enjoyable word) of Roman Road Market.  It’s somewhere I always mean to go and definitely need to pick my heels up a wee bit and trot down there more often.

I went doon at the weekend and was lucky enough with timing that a table became free when I walked in – woot! It’s a popular place. Ordered me some eggs benedict and my dining companion had a full fry up, with a cuppa each.

Caravan – Kings Cross, London

It’s the weekend and it’s brunchtime.

I’ve tried to get into Caravan before but the first time round we didn’t want to wait 40 minutes for a table…however this time it was a 20 min wait and we were offered a seat at the coffee bar. We were given a numbered coffee bean (I think) bag and toddled off to sit at the bar and peruse the menu.

While we were waiting, I ordered a latte and it looked pretty (I’m a sucker for a nice looking latte in a glass). This place has an on-site coffee roastery and so I would expect this stuff to be pretty special. The atmosphere of the place was nice, not rushed around and just very chilled out and warehousey industrial sort of feel…you know, cagey walls and pipes out, lots of wooden stuff.. Is that shabby chic? Dunno but it’s good anyway. Pleases my eyes.  the clientele and staff looked pretty Hipster tastic  (they were very nice and enthusiastic)but I like a good hipster so I’m down with that, son.

Poppies of Spitalfields – Takeaway, London

Avast ye!

Last week we were feeling lazy or didn’t have anything in, or plans went askew…whatever. We ended up ordering takeaway through the DineIn site. We decided to go with Poppies of Spitalfields as I’ve heard great things but never actually been. Wah!!!

Order plaicing was fine and dandy, pretty standard through the website so I guess that’s not down to Poppies but it took about an hour to show up. Though I probably should appreciate that it is a very busy place! Darn it. The goodies arrived hot even after the delay which was a good thing in little cute Poppies boxes.

Bunnychow – Soho, London

Bunnychow – South African meals in a mini loaf – £5

Dear few readers. Or us. Or both. I began my relationship with Bunnychow last year and it was overwhelmingly fabulous. Their Thai Chicken bunny rocked my world and made it into my top 10 foods that I wanted to Get In My Face and I thought about the saucy soft bread most days. Sigh. Summer lovin’ did indeed happen so fast.

The Breakfast Club, Pancakes – Hoxton

The Breakfast Club Hoxton – Pancakes & Bacon – £9

It’s the weekend. I’m slightly hanging and I’m ravenous. I know just the place that will sort me out. The Breakfast Club.

Having been to this fine establishment multiple times I knew before stepping foot in the building what I’d be having… 100% unquestionably it had to be the pancakes and bacon! And since I was feeling a little sorry for myself, I threw in a chocolate caramel milkshake for good measure. Now that my friends, is what I call a breakfast of champions.
