Hello! Today I want to tell you about a lunch I’ve become rather fond of which takes the form of a Protein Box from Pret. This isn’t sponsored and hasn’t been requested by a PR company, it’s just me sharing the love for something I quite like.
I eat a lot, and a lot of that is food which (combined with no exercise) means my clothes are slowly feeling tighter… my poor self control means I can’t cut delicious food out totally but I am trying to reduce my carb intake for lunches. So here we are with this box which seemed like a good option to me and, as a classic millennial, I’m a right sucker for an avo. However despite these lures I am also a bit of a stinge, so was initially put off by the £4.99 price tag.
Today we ventured to the new Bloomberg Arcade, which will soon be home to a new Bleecker Burger (the most glorious of all London Burgers). Sadly it isn’t open yet (but will be on the 18th October people!) so we wandered around in search of a quick and hearty lunch. We stumbled upon Pull’d, which looked like a good option – I mean who doesn’t like pulled meats.
A very good afternoon to you all! I’ve just got back from a weekend away in Barcelona with a fabulous group of women and thought I would write a post about one of the places we ate while we were there.
We’d just finished a really relaxing cruise on a BBQ catamaran and needed some nibbles and cocktails before we headed back to our apartment. Conveniently placed at the end of the pier was Chicken Bar. We’d seen the menu online and were lured in by the cheap cocktails and the menu looked pretty safe.
Good day to you all! Some of you may know that I’m a fan of 50s style, including Tiki fashion, so when I saw there was an exciting looking Tiki pop up at Barsmith in Farringdon it set my joy alarm off!
So what is it? Well Barsmith have decked out their establishment as a Tiki bar, with carved Tiki heads imported from the South Pacific, a bamboo bar set up, tropical flowers all over the place and a new Tiki styled menu. They’ve brought in some cocktails such as the classic Zombie and Navy Grog to name a couple to sip on while admiring the authentic décor.
Following our preview post last month, here we have it, the return of the East London tropical beach pop up…the Last Days of Shoreditch. I’m unsure where the name came from exactly but positioned on the crevis of Great Eastern Street and Old Street, you’ll find a beach hideaway nestled and ready for you to pull up a deckchair.
We were lucky enough to go to the launch of FDoS and although there was a little delay on allowing entry we were glad to get to the bar and have a drink as the sun was shining and we were all excited to see what was available this season.
This week we see Last Days of Shoreditch Riviera arrive back in the heart of East London, in the crevis where Old Street and Great Eastern Street meet, with a sensational summer programme of beats, bars and beach life. If you feel so inclined, you can relax to the sounds of XOYO DJs who will take the Saturday daytime residency each week, expect cocktails, an urban beach, craft beer bars alongside mouthwatering street food as well as a pop up restaurant and label takeovers.
It’s a Thursday in February. Where are we? Angel, Islington and I’m about to try my first German doner kebab. Now I’m not 100 percent sure exactly what the difference is between a normal doner kebab and a German one, but I do know that from my personal experience in Germany, they are a pretty meaty country so I think they will have their heads in the right place for this. Carry on reading to find out what we thought!
Just before Christmas we popped along to the new Jackson & Rye restaurant in the City. An American food joint certainly makes a change from the plethora of steak houses and gastro pubs in the area, and being only a few streets away from the office we were keen to check out this new addition to the local food scene.
We went to the soft opening of Boondocks, Old Street to sample what was what in this American Deep South diner. I’d heard rumours of crawfish and have read impressive things about head chef Bea Vo’s Kingly Court (near Carnaby St) place, Stax. Now opening a second restaurant in Old Street, they have more space and more potential for a larger menu and more varied dishes. So I thought I would pop down and see what was what!
